3 Years

Three years ago. I can’t believe it. I know at some point we won’t celebrate the day Josh proposed to me, but until that day comes- I will celebrate, dang it! It was a wonderful day- one that changed our lives! For our engagement story, click here

People ask me a lot, “How did you know that you wanted to marry Josh?” And honestly, my answer is less than romantic. I knew that Josh had all the qualities I wanted in a husband- loved the Lord, served others, we had fun together and could talk about anything. Don’t get me wrong- I love me some Josh Bierman. The longer we are together, the more I am realizing how great of a match we are. However, making the choice to pursue marriage with one another is a big decision, not one that should be taken lightly. It finally came to a point where we just chose. We chose that of all the other guys or girls that love the Lord, serve, are fun, and can converse openly that THIS was the one for us.

Undoubtedly, my life would be completely different if I hadn’t married Josh, and I am forever grateful he asked me for my hand. He makes me laugh, humbles me, encourages me, and teaches me. I wouldn’t trade him for the world.

I love you, JRB! Thanks for asking me to marry you.

National Dog Day

I know I’m a day late, but who says I can’t celebrate National Dog Day today? Currently, Sam and Miller are taking their 3rd afternoon nap, and if that’s not worth celebrating then I don’t know what is.

Miller’s likes: playing fetch, playing fetch, playing FETCH | sitting in his chair | peanut butter | rolling on shoes | shaking paws | chasing chipmunks, squirrels, and birds | throwing his bark | going to bed at 9 | going for rides in the car | attacking the vacuum

Miller’s dislikes: not playing fetch | sharing with Sam | taking medicine | onions | motorcycles

Sam’s likes: taking naps | rolling in the grass | sloppily drinking water | receiving belly rubs | moo’ing like a cow | downward dog | any human food | greeting visitors | playing alarm clock (he wakes us up EVERY morning at the same time)

Sam’s dislikes: Vacuum cleaner | Miller receiving affection | going for long rides in the car | not receiving attention

Happy National Dog Day to the Bierman Pups!

Friday Letters

Dear Josh, we have watched last year’s Iron Bowl and an Auburn documentary all in the last week. War eagle to that. Dear ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, I tried and tried not to become a part, but I finally gave in. I’m thankful that Miller help me out by drinking some of the water. Dear back pain, my mixture of yoga, Advil, and massage is finally starting to get rid of you. Be gone. Dear pups of ours, just this week you’ve drunk my ALS challenge water, scared our mailman to death, visited two sets of neighbors, licked our landlord an embarrassing amount, and eaten shrimp tails. Ya’ll are so weird. Dear JRB, you’ve shown me compassion with my back pain and grace through my perfectionism. I don’t deserve you.

I’ve been having a good bit of lower back and neck pain here recently. I’m thinking it’s a combination of my increase in running (which I completely cut out this week) and sitting in front of a computer. These videos have helped so so much. Above you can see Sam demonstrating child’s pose. He’s a good yoga dog.

An Alabama Post

We’re here!!!  We’ve been in Birmingham for almost a month now, and are absolutely loving it. I’ve taken a break from this blog because 1) I was growing weary and just need a vacation from writing 2) Moving is very difficult 3) Especially when you have a full-time job

To catch you up, here is what we’ve been doing:

IMG_0324Our first Saturday here, we took a hike on the Red Mountain Trail with some friends and our pups. As you can see, Sam was having to rest after very, very sacredly walking across the bridge to get to this treehouse. Miller, no shocker here, fearlessly ran across the bridge.

IMG_0338One of the best/worst things about moving is that awkward period of time when you don’t have Internet. This was pretty bad since I now work full-time from home. This was awesome because it gave me the opportunity to try out local coffee shops and bum Wifi. My personal favorites are O’Henry’s (great smoothies for after a run) and Church Street Coffee & Books (Handsdown the best cookie- The Breakup Cookie- I’ve ever had.)

photoWe moved to Birmingham with zero tennis balls. At this point, our dogs somehow had 3 and a stuffed lamb. Now we’re down to 2 tennis balls and an unstuffed lamb, but they’ve picked up a bone on the way. We have NO CLUE how they keep getting toys.

photoWhat do you do when it’s raining outside and you have no Wifi or television? Play games! I have only come close to beating Josh as chess ONE TIME. I have, however, beaten him at disc golf. In his defense, winner got to chose the restaurant. I’m ruthless when it comes to food.

I have been referring to Sam and Miller as my “coworkers,” since I started working from home. As you can see, my coworkers sleep a lot on the job.

This weekend we met some friends from college at Avondale Brewery. We had so much fun just hanging out and catching up. Also, did you know dogs are welcome at Avondale?? I don’t know that Sam and Miller could ever calm down enough to go to a wide open space with lots of people and loud music, but the thought is fun, right?

Many of you know that Miller and Sam are not allowed on the furniture. However, at our house in Lagrange, Miller was given ONE chair that he was allowed on. Since we’ve moved, I’ve had to reclaim the chair as my office chair, and he is quite bummed about it. Sometimes, he likes to hop into the chair WHILE I’M IN IT WORKING. I’ve decided to allow it as long as he agrees to take a selfie with me. So, above is Miller and I sorting through Excel spreadsheets. photo

Slowly, but surely our house is turning into a home. It’s good to be back in Sweet Home Alabama.
