Letters

ImageDear Josh, last night we had our first Friendsgiving. Remember when we didn’t think we’d ever make friends in LaGrange? Whew. Glad that’s over. Dear Auburn Tigers, last year you were terrible. No denying it. So I realize asking you to knock off #1 Alabama is a bit greedy considering, but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THE WORLD, BEAT BAMA. Dear 3-week long headache, I. Will. Not. Let. You. Get. Me. Down. Dear parents, thank you for the incredible mail system/chalkboard you made us. Your handy skills amaze me, and I really like being blessed by them. Dear JRB, you’re officially on Thanksgiving break. If that’s not a Thanksgiving blessing, then I don’t know what is.

Happy {almost} Thanksgiving, folks! Last night we hosted our first Friendsgiving dinner, which means I made my first ham and first green bean casserole. Basically, my back is sore from my patting my own back so much.

Happy Birthday, Sam!

ImageImageImageImageImageSam enjoys: belly rubs, eating people food, getting muddy, taking naps, being held, swimming, pestering Miller, Milk Bones from Mr. Fred, waking us up in the morning, and chasing butterflies

Sam doesn’t like: strange noises, car rides, getting stuck in the bathroom, and not being the center of attention.

Nicknames include: Sammy, Samuel, Sam Wise, and Poochie.

Happy birthday, Sammy boy! You’re the best black and white dog ever!

Hillsong Hangover

I’m exhausted. I’m walking around work like a zombie and chugging coffee because ONCE AGAIN I think I can pull a super late night and still be a responsible adult. When will I ever learn??? I hope never.

Yes, I went to the Hillsong United concert in Atlanta last night with a group from our church. Sadly, Josh couldn’t make it because of a last minute wrestling match. (He’s a referee, not wrestler- anymore. Just thought I should make clear that my husband doesn’t wrestle on the reg.)

Anyway, I had a wonderful time and was led in probably the longest worshipful state of my life (3 hours if you were wondering). Before the concert, I bet myself that they would randomly sing “Jesus” eight times, and I only missed it by one. They sang “Jesus” seven times. They also amazed me by how much they jumped, danced, and head banged. HOW CAN THEY SING AND RUN AROUND LIKE THAT?! Last night  This morning, when I got home, I was showing Josh their dance moves and got winded within a minute! No way I could sing and go crazy like they do. Which led me to think, do you think they workout? Do they even have to when they basically run and sing for 3-4 hours a night? Is that not enough? Just wondering.

Below are my favorite pictures from the concert. Technically, we weren’t supposed to take pictures or record any of the concert, but you can’t hold this blogger back!

Lusting

Below is a list of things I’m lusting over right now. Some make me smile. Some make me laugh. Some make me want to dress fancy. And others make me want to stay at home in my jammers. Either way, I love these things.

Image

This makes my heart jump in all directions because it’s 3 of my favorite things- precious baby boys, puppies, and naps.

These glasses were made for JRB and I. Literally. Half of our name is on them.

Also, I know Miley Cyrus is on our bad list, but how awesome is this cover of Wrecking Ball?

An easy, healthy Thanksgiving side dish. Have I mentioned how I love quinoa??

Additionally, did ya’ll know my mom is a big deal? Check her out in the latest issue of Lake Martin Magazine. I love my shout out as her “adult daughter.”

Also loving this Owl pillow from West Elm. #chiomega

I can’t cross nearly enough cities off of this list. Road trip to everywhere? Anyone? Anyone?

And lastly, this photo that a co-worker sent me just makes me giggle. This pup has the same demeanor of Sam and Miller when they ate our couch.

Happy Tuesday, folks!

Weekend Update: 4th and 18 and a Deal Not Broken

By the title, I’m sure you can tell what I’ll be talking bragging about today. THE MIRACLE IN JORDAN-HARE. This was my thought pattern when it happened:

Crap.

Interception.

Game over.

WHAT?!

LIKE.

WHAT?!

OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG

WHAT?!

OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG.

WE’RE GOING TO WIN!

Crap. Was there a flag?

No. PTL.

Now they have 25 seconds.

Crap. We could still lose.

Now let’s rewind-

The day started out like any other Saturday- me sleeping late, Josh watching tv on his iPad. We cleaned our house to get ready for our favorites (By favorites, I mean the Waites. Check out Caitlyn’s Etsy shop. She’s super talented and has populated a good many of the walls in our house. She also is an amazing interior designer whose house was featured in Mobile Bay Magazine. Whoa.) to spend the night, and then departed to the Promise Land (Auburn). We tailgated, ate like kings and queens, and socialized with our friends.

Some of these pretty ladies I haven’t seen since I graduated!! What a joy to catch up, even if it was ever so brief.

Then we ran into the game, missed the eagle fly,and sat by some really interesting people. One row down and 4 seats to the left was an Alabama fan who got so drunk that his friends talking him into buying an Auburn visor and cheering for us. Beside him was a bald man who was barefoot and wearing glitter toenail polish. You can’t make this stuff up. They were actually enjoyable additions to the game.

Image

Not sure if you can tell from this picture, but we were on the 10 yard line and 7 rows up aka DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE MIRACLE CATCH.

This post wouldn’t be anything without including a video clip of the catch so… viola!

Our reaction: (Thank you, Camilla, for capturing this)

And then I screamed so much that I thought I was going to throw up. Following that episode were the tears.

I just love Auburn, ok?!

If you read this post of mine, then you know that I had a little deal to keep if Auburn won. Let me just say that of all the bets I’ve made with myself, this one was by far the best. I put a UGA fan on the prayer request list and received several high-fives, one hug, and a good many “War Eagle”s.

ImageYes, I jazzed up my jersey with a navy corduroy skirt and boots.

I hope you guys have a fantastic week! Auburn fans, are you still high on life from that game? I hope so! Let’s use that to coast into Thanksgiving! Georgia fans, I apologize for my obnoxiousness. Let me just have this one.

Let’s Make a Deal

Image

Let me be honest. I NEVER thought that my beloved Auburn Tigers would be 9-1 going into the UGA game. NEVER. I  was just hoping we could have a winning season that way I didn’t have to sleep through all of the games again to avoid the pain. So, here we are 9-1 about to face UGA, and I’m starting to get my stride back some.

You see, once you get accustomed to losing (like I did last year), it’s hard to break that cycle. Therefore, I have found myself every week since the season opened thinking that there is at least a 50 percent chance my Tigers will lose. So, this week I’m feeling confident, but not too confident. I still think we have a 50 percent chance of losing. I’m sorry, ok?! I just can’t get out of this loser’s mentality. To my credit, it makes winning even sweeter!

Growing up in Alabama, I always considered Auburn’s biggest rivalry to be Alabama (And it is. No doubt.) However, I didn’t realize that the rivalry with Georgia was to the level that it is. Yes, I knew this game is considered “The South’s Oldest Rivalry,” but it never sunk in until I moved to Georgia. Guys, these people care more about the Georgia game than they do the Alabama game! It blows my mind!

And that is why I’m making this deal- if Auburn beats Georgia this weekend, I am wearing my Auburn jersey to church and proudly saying, “War eagle!” to each and every member I encounter.

War eagle to that.
