Name Change

You’re hearing from, Mrs. Peanut Butter. That’s right. Some kids at the after school program I work at have decided that my initials stand for peanut butter. Let me back up. A couple of days ago, we began signing off on their homework whenever they finish. Since my initials are now PB, one kid was like, “Peanut Butter?” My reaction without thinking was, “Yep. Mrs. Peanut Butter.” So now this kid and his friends say, “Hey look! Mrs. Peanut Butter is my favorite teacher.” Compliment? I’ll take it.

Oh Happy Day

Exactly one year ago today, Mr. Bierman asked me if he could become my Mr. Yes, August 28, 2011 was the Sunday in which Josh and I got engaged. It’s so crazy to think of everything we have accomplished, worked through, learned, and experienced since that sweet sweet day.

For those of you who don’t know our proposal story, you can read about it by clicking here. If extra reading isn’t your thing, then just know it was the ultimate. Our proposal proved that Josh Bierman had to be the man for me because 1.) He quoted Scripture 2.) He rowed me in a canoe 3.) He got pictures 4.) My ring was perfect and designed by him 5.) He talked to my dad 6.) Ok… everything was perfect.

To celebrate, we have decided to move our date night from Wednesday to tonight and eat some Oh-my-good-gracious-good Hunter’s Pub (our fave if you couldn’t tell). You can best believe we will waddle out of Hunter’s Pub after devouring steak, potatoes, green beans, and peanut butter pie.

To celebrate today, let’s take a stroll through memory lane to back when I was a Robinson. This is one of my favorite pictures from that day. Others can be viewed on my Facebook or by clicking on the link above.

In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Weekend Updates: Santa Rosa Beach, Puppy Love, and the Traveling Journal

This weekend was one for the record books, record books of fun that is. Even though JRB and I were apart, I must say this is one of the most fun weekends I’ve had in a long, long time. My best friend Elizabeth had her bachelorette weekend at Santa Rosa Beach, and I am among the lucky ones who got to attend. I’m pretty sure I told every one I know at Callaway Elementary that I was leaving after school to go to the beach. Maybe I was a tad excited…. I left school at 2 and was on the road at 2:30. Even though it took Camilla and I about an hour longer than we expected, our drive was full of fresh conversation. Even if I only could’ve had that conversation, the weekend would’ve been a success to me!

After staying up late Friday night, Saturday was a full day of pool and beach living. Hard life, right?

One interesting thing that happened is that I found this traveling journal in my bag. You guys know I love Today’s Letters, so I got this idea from them. However, this journal is been really fun thing to incorporate into our marriage. It’s a great way to affirm and encourage one another through the written word (my preference, obviously). The funny thing is that my letter in the journal was written by Miller. Who knew he was so smart that he can write? What an impressive pup!

Saturday night the group went to Red Bar, which just so happened to be RIGHT. NEXT. DOOR. Yes, we literally walked out of our door, took a left, and were at Red Bar. I had the stuffed eggplant (I didn’t even know I liked eggplant until a month ago), and it was d-to-the-liscious! Here I am with the blushing (or maybe just sunburned) bride outside of Red Bar.

Meanwhile, Josh was in Birmingham living it up with his friends and the pups. As seen below, Miller is quite adaptable. Last weekend, he played with a Golden Retriver/Lab mix, and now this weekend he fearlessly conquered playing with Girl, a year old Great Dane, and his cousin Luc, a Daschund . From what I understand, they’re best friends for life. Here they are discussing their excitement for the beginning of football season and cooler weather. (Sadly a little fuzzy)

Josh had tons of fun seeing his friends and brother. So much fun that I beat him home….by almost four hours. I was beginning to believe he was never going to make it! But finally he made it home, and we rested from our crazy crazy weekend. It looked a lot like this.

Hooray for a new week with kindergartners, new classes of freshmen at Point, and the one year anniversary of our engagement! C’mon September, Auburn football, and tailgate food!

Back to School, Back to School

Today is Josh’s first day of classes!! Yayyy!! Technically, Point began yesterday, but he only has Tuesday/Thursday classes, so he begins teaching today. The morning began a little slow, but it was nothing Miller couldn’t fix.

He quickly got ready, ate some breakfast, and then with American cup and lunch bag in hand, set off to educate freshmen. So proud!

Don’t be fooled. He didn’t leave without a grocery list.

Happy Thursday everyone! We’re rolling here in the Casa de la Bierman.

Diary of a Wimpy Wife

I consider this week hazing. Getting up at 6 a.m. each morning after not having to all summer is starting to take its toll. Josh found me on the couch getting smothered by Miller at about 5 p.m. yesterday. I know I should’ve made him act right, but I was too tired to even care. Josh and I proceeded to watch some television and discuss our days when next thing I know it’s 6 p.m. No dinner cooked. Not even started. I was too busy thinking about my aching feet and laying in a ball on the couch. Sweet Josh gave me the option of dining out, but I sucked it up and made my way to the kitchen. Thank goodness our meal was a rather easy one!

Our dinner conversation consisted of more of our days and plans for the rest of the night. While Josh was telling me how he needed to bike tonight I interrupted him by saying, ” I’m about to start crying, but please know that it’s not about you biking.” My eyes teared up (luckily I dropped no tears), and I put my head down on our kitchen table. Have I reverted back to my old kindergarten self?? Who am I?? I am a sleepy, wimpy wife. Hello, bedtime of 9 p.m.!

A Tribute to the Men in My Life

Last night as I was lying in bed, I allowed my mind to run on and on about how thankful I am for Josh and Miller. By no means am I considered a mom or anything close to it. However, I didn’t know that I could love a dog like I do Miller. Stay with me here. I’m not claiming to love him like a mother loves a child whatsoever. But this little pup has completely gotten me emotionally involved. I hurt when I think about him getting hurt. If I love a dog this much this fast, how much more so will I love a child some day (A long time from now. Don’t get any ideas.)?? Josh and I are both so thankful for Miller because he fills our empty time. Instead of watching tv or doing nothing, we now go together on walks with Miller. We’ve also taken him to our local middle school for runs. He entertains us like no tv show can do! He really is man’s (or woman’s) best friend!

Then there’s this guy… Where do I begin? Honestly, I could’ve worked myself into tears as I was lying there thinking. Josh obviously is the greatest guy ever (I guess I’m a little biased).  I absolutely love beginning and ending my day with him. It’s so so fun to wake up and go over our schedules, and then come home and discuss how we completely abandoned them. I enjoy listening to his stories, hearing about the new people he met, and the crazy things he read on Rivals or some other article. He enjoys (or at least I think so) listening to my tales of kindergartners and crazy facts I saw on Twitter. Although we’ve only been together since my sophomore year of college, Josh has been my friend since freshman year of high school. Yes, we dated my freshman year, but for the majority of that time we were only friends. Although we were living in separate cities and occasionally had boyfriends or girlfriends, we always remained friends. He’s the number I never deleted from my phone book. And I’m so thankful that now I get to share life with him. Really, it’s so fun and interesting and encouraging and sweet. He gets me, which isn’t exactly easy sometimes, and quite often talks me off of the proverbial ledge (I can get a little worked up).

I say all of this just to get it off my chest. I love love love the stage we’re in right now. We’re definitely still learning: how to live together, make a marriage work, not freak out when Miller eats weird things, etc. But it’s really fun! I’m so thankful that he and I rely so heavily on one another, and I hope it’s forever like this.

Weekend Updates: Kindergarten, Mishaps, and Auburn

This weekend was one for the books. Friday began at 6 a.m. for me since it was my first day at kindergarten! My day was full of learning and overflowing with sweet hugs. It’s funny how so many kindergartners say ” I love you” on your first day! Leaving at 2, I was quite pooped. I haven’t woken up at 6 a.m. in I don’t know how long and definitely haven’t stayed on my feet for 6 hours maybe ever. After picking up some supplies for dinner and letting Miller out to play, I took myself a well-deserved nap. I’m going to have to whip myself into shape, especially since I’m now going to work an after school program until 4 everyday. The one thing I did notice on Friday is my need for a lunchbox. Friday I kept my lunch in my purse (not cool), so it was completely necessary for me to get something else. So I got a new lunchbox; it’s odd how excited I am about it.

Saturday was a great day for us! Josh’s mom was in town for a wedding, so we met her in Auburn for lunch and ice cream. Not before we ran errands in Tiger Town and my mom and I got mani/pedis (our specialty). Now that my nails are looking good, I can’t wait to head back to kindergarten. I’m 100 percent positive that I will get compliments on them.

Miller had quite a big weekend also. After this week which included licking Clorox and a toxic frog, who knew it could get much bigger?? Well, he was hanging out at one of our friends’ apartments, and had a little run in with a bigger dog. This dog is so so sweet, but Miller tried to get his bone from this dog (an obvious bad choice) and was left with a boo boo on his snout. Apparently he was very very pathetic after getting bitten, so I’m overly happy that I wasn’t there. For some reason, I’m quite emotional lately. Explanation: I cried Thursday watching Marley & Me and Friday writing letters to my friends. Who am I? No worries though; Miller is as happy and alive as ever.

For dinner we ate with our good friends Josh, Meagan and Meagan’s dog Mae. Miller and Mae hit it off immediately- after some good sniffing, of course. We took them onto campus; only after some unfortunate bathroom mishaps on College Street (whoops!). They ran… and ran… and ran… and ran. It honestly crossed my mind that Miller could run himself to death. This was perfect though because as soon as we got home, Miller was off to bed. And even better, he slept all night!! No waking up at 3:30, 5:30, or 6! Wooo hoo!!

Then Sunday, sweet Sunday, Josh and I attended church, got ANOTHER dinner invitation (on a roll-Wooo!! Friends!!), ate frozen pizza, watched Crash, and took lengthy naps (maybe that was just me again….) But we are very excited for this week which includes: kindergarten and a new lunch box for me, classes beginning for Josh, dinner with a couple from our Sunday school class, a department party for Josh, and a bachelorette party for my friend Elizabeth! Honestly, what an awesome week to look forward to!
